Fuel flow meter DFМ is designed for diesel fuel consumption measuring in the fuel line of the following vehicles:

Inline fuel meter DFМ can be applied for fuel accounting both autonomously and as a part of vehicle tracking and fuel monitoring system.Fuel gauge DFM allows to solve the following tasks:
  • fuel consumption control;
  • fuel consumption rationing;
  • fuel theft detecting and preventing;
  • fuel comsumption optimization and real-time monitoring;
  • engine fuel consumption testing.
Fuel meter DFМ enables to receive objective information about actual fuel consumption and vehicle working time. It also permits to reduce fuel and repairing costs. It is possible to develop fuel consumption rates for selected routes and technological operations.
The economic effect of using the fuel accounting devices is different at various companies, usually about 10 to 40%, depending on the baseline situation and management persistence.
Operating principle
Fuel gauge DFM has three-dimension ring type measuring chamber. DFМ generates an impulse, when the volume of fuel (which is equal to volume of the measuring chamber) passes through it. For detailed operating principle for every DFM model please visit product pages.
Measured fluids
Fuel flow meter DFМ can be used for consumption measuring of the following fluids:
  • Diesel fuel
  • Fuel Oil
  • Heating oil
  • Engine oil
Other types of liquids with kinematic viscosity from 1.5 to 6 mm2/sec*.
* Application for more viscous liquids is also possible, but the maximum consumption may get less than critical and the pressure on the meter gets down.
* All the meters DFM are tested with diesel fuel.

* The materials resistant to gasoline are used for DFМ manufacturing.
* Use safety means in accordance with the national laws when working with gasoline.

Installation
Fuel meters DFМ are mounted into fuel line of vehicles according to approved installation schemes. Fuel pipe and mounting kit can be additionally included in delivery package. Designed to measure the flow in the fuel line of engine. Produced as one-way (direct) fuel flow meters, and differential fuel flow meters. There are versions for different ranges of fuel consumption. Compatibility requirements: terminal of vehicle tracking system should have one or two frequency inputs.

In most cases a consumer impressions about the material of a product are based on his own experience and knowledge. Such a conclusions may result an erroneous opinion about the reliability and durability of a product. 

In this article we will talk about the materials used in the manufacture of DFM flow meters components and their characteristics.

The measuring chamber case

The case of DFМ measuring chamber is made from Zinc-Aluminum-Copper alloy (known as Zamak), contrary to popular opinion that it made of aluminum. Zinc quota is about 96% in alloys structure.
Zamak alloys are used in the automotive industry for responsible parts manufacturing: carburetors body casting, pumps, speedometer frames, radiator grills and hydraulic brake parts.
One of the main alloy features is the processing compliance by metal-cutting tools that allows reaching high precision accuracy of responsible details processing to observe strict requirements of the design documentation.
Zamak alloy products get glaze in the air forming a thin dense oxide coat over, which protects the metal from further oxidation. The density of the alloy is about 7000 kg/m3, melting temperature is 380 °C, hardness is 80-90 HB (for comparison soft brass 50-60 HB, solid 100-120 HB).
Zinc-aluminum alloys possess high antifriction properties and are often used as a substitute for bronze in friction knots.
Zamak alloy is well suited for automotive fuel flow meters and determines such qualities of DFM flow meter as:
  • accuracy;
  • stability to deterioration;
  • low weight;
  • manufacturability in production.
In the manufacturing process measuring chamber body is molded under pressure, and then, after the testing for leakproofness, is exposed to machining on high-precision tools with numerical programmed control.

The ring should be light and durable as much as possible, therefore it is made of aluminum and covered by a wear-resistant anoxia covering – colorless or painted golden.
